The giant slalom world champion was on the list of 109 athletes in the Italian team for the Milan-Cortina Games, and the 35-year-old is one of 11 in the women’s alpine skiing team.
Brignone returned to action last week with an impressive sixth place in the giant slalom at Kronplatz, her first race since breaking both legs last April.
Before that race, she was still unsure about her participation, telling reporters beforehand that she was still experiencing pain both on and off the course.
Her goal is to compete in her favorite discipline, as well as the downhill and super-G disciplines in Cortina d’Ampezzo, where the women’s alpine skiing competitions will be held from February 8 to 18.
Both Brignone, who will be one of four Italian flag bearers at the opening ceremony on February 6, and her colleague, Italian medal hope Sofia Goggia, missed the giant slalom and slalom at Spindleruv Mlyn at the weekend.
However, FISI confirmed on Monday that both will travel to tragedy-hit Crans Montana for the final World Cup weekend before the Olympics.
