Garza spent 17 minutes on the court, and finished the game with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 1 assist, with an impressive 6-of-8 field goal.
After the game, Boston coach Joe Mazzulla specifically praised Garza’s approach and energy on the field.
– He has a special gift, he simply plays harder than everyone else on the court, said Mazzulla.
Garza responded modestly, pointing out that his style of play comes from family values and the way he was raised.
– The way my parents raised me, those are the ideals they instilled in me, especially through sports, because we are a big sports family, said Garza.
– I realized early on that I’m not the most athletic player, so I had to find a way to gain an advantage. That’s why every time I go out on the field I have the same goal; play harder than the guy in front of you, Garza said.
