According to the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, an official confirmation of the acceptance of the Reform Agenda for our country should arrive today, after it was approved by the European Commission on Friday.
This was announced by the chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Borjana Krišto, writes BHRT. This is followed by the appointment of a coordinator and the ratification of two agreements – on ratification and on the loan.
The European parliamentarians are not satisfied with the dynamics with which Bosnia and Herzegovina is going along the European path, but they express their willingness to help speed up the process.
The slowness in making important decisions is what European parliamentarians complain about to the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, hoping that they will succeed in speeding up the processes that must be completed so that our country can start negotiations for joining the European Union.
Ondrej Kolar, the rapporteur of the European Parliament for Bosnia and Herzegovina, said that it seems to him that many people in positions and positions rely on others from the outside, that they do not want to improve the country, that they do not want to undertake reforms, that they do not want to take responsibility for what they do so that they rely on others in their own decisions and then when someone else makes a decision, then it is their alibi for their own inaction.
The European Union wants Bosnia and Herzegovina as its member. There is visible optimism among European parliamentarians regarding the confirmation of the reform agenda in the near future. However, BiH politicians must make additional efforts in order to fulfill the other conditions set before them, especially in the area of legislation. Until the final, joint opinion of the European Union on the reform agenda, it is necessary for the European Parliament to take a political position, and the Council of the European Union to give formal approval. A visit of the parliamentarians of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Brussels is expected soon, with information on concrete developments, such as the adopted Law on the Court and the Law on the HJPC.
Davor Ivo Stier, head of the European Parliament Delegation for relations with BiH and Kosovo, says that they expect to be able to state that the conditions have been met, that those two laws from the domain of the judiciary and the appointment of the chief negotiator have been fulfilled, and that an intergovernmental conference was then held and accession negotiations with the European Union were opened.
– The person who will become the main negotiator must be an expert in how to convey the needs of the country, not just one people. I am afraid that the politicians in Bosnia and Herzegovina do not understand this yet, that they see themselves only as representatives of a certain people or a certain group – said Ondrej Kolar.
Confirmation of the reform agenda is good news, they agree in Brussels, but if BiH politicians do not fulfill these key demands, Bosnia and Herzegovina risks not using the full potential of the Growth Plan and further progress on the European path, writes Avaz.
