Borsa Open 2025, the largest sports event in the city and one of the most prestigious judo tournaments for young people in the region, was officially opened in Mostar on Sunday.
This year’s tournament brought together record numbers 1244 competitors from 137 clubs and 27 countrieswas officially opened by a representative in the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Darijana Filipović.

The first deputy chairman of the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly was among the guests Dragan Covic which is from the organizer, Borsa Judo Club, received a plaque for long-term support sports development and JK Borsa, while he is the mayor Mario Kordic at the ceremonial opening, he emphasized that Mostar sends a clear message of coexistence in this way.
Kordić: “I am incredibly proud”
This has long surpassed the sports event, this is something that says how we want to live in the city of Mostar. This is it a mega story for much bigger cities than Mostar. I personally follow the development of this club and everything that revolves around Borsa, I am incredibly proud of the team that took the club into space, assessed Kordić.
He added that he is particularly happy that the representatives of 27 countries are meeting in one place in Mostar, which thus sends an image of togetherness and coexistence, “of all that is the heritage of judo sport, namely respect, sacrifice and work ethic”.
President of JK Borsa Franjo Zadro he completed the ceremonial opening by commenting that it is a specific judo tournament that gathers competitors from a wide range of countries.
One of the strongest European tournaments
This is current one of the strongest European tournaments in Europe for young people. This is the 14th edition, and we have a record number of 1244 participants from 27 countries. Competitors come here from the east, west, north and south, even from other continents, which is a real rarity for such unofficial tournaments, which usually only gather competitors from the region. We have here representatives of Turkey, Sweden, Lithuania… which we are particularly proud of, said Zadro.
The opening of the tournament was attended, among others, by the Minister of the Interior of Herzegovina-Neretva County Marijo Marićpresident of the Sports Association of the City of Mostar Ekrem Čolakhodžićdirector of the European Judo Union (EJU) for development Branislav Montenegrin and Olympic winner from Paris in 2024 Barbara Matić.
