On Friday and Saturday (November 28 and 29, 2025), the Federal Market Inspectorate carried out increased controls in retail stores in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the aim of preventing unfair trade practices and protecting the interests of consumers during the period of mass shopping on the occasion of Black Friday.
Inspections were carried out in the area of Sarajevo, Tuzla, Tešnj and Mostar, and the federal market, tourism and catering inspectors found violations in 96 percent of the controlled subjects, for which misdemeanor orders will be issued in the total monetary amount of 67,900.00 KM.
The focus of the supervision was on the control of highlighting prices and discounts, compliance of promotional campaigns with legal provisions, accuracy of product declarations and expiration dates, and compliance with other obligations towards consumers.
In the performed inspections, violations of the regulations regulating consumer protection, primarily the Consumer Protection Act and the Internal Trade Act, were found, which relate to clearly and visibly highlighting the price of products on sale at the previous price and the price after the reduction, advertising products and services in a way that, directly or indirectly, by omission, vagueness or exaggeration, misleads consumers.
Especially with regard to the value of the product or service or the total price that should actually be paid, by advertising an apparent sale or an apparent reduction in the price of goods or performing other similar actions that lead or may mislead the consumer about the price, and by not establishing in writing the rules when conducting the procedure of a special type of sale with the obligation to clearly highlight them in the business premises in a manner easily accessible to the consumer with the content of the type of incentive, a precise and clear determination of the goods or services to which the discount applies, the period of validity of the incentive with an indication of the date and other special conditions for exercising the right to incentive, it was announced, transfers Factor.
