The construction process of Bihać Airport, one of the most important infrastructure projects in the Una-Sana Canton, has entered the final stage of preparation.
After years of harmonizing documentation and procedures at all levels of government, the management of JP Aerodrom Bihać was given the in-principle approval for construction – a key step that precedes the issuance of a construction permit for the runway, the most demanding segment of the project. This document symbolically marks the transition from the long-term administrative phase to the beginning of the concrete implementation of the project, it was emphasized at the meeting held in the Federal Ministry of Spatial Planning.
The ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Bihac, Elvedin Sedić, who from the very beginning actively followed all phases of the project and was one of the key actors in communication and coordination with the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On behalf of the City of Bihać, Sedić expressed his gratitude to Federal Minister Željko Nedić for his support and commitment, and expressed his satisfaction with the fact that the realization of the airport is entering the final preparatory phase.
Director of JP Aerodrom Bihać Anel Hadžić stated that the approval in principle is a confirmation that the project has finally entered the final legal and technical procedure.
“Today (yesterday, op.pr.) at the invitation of the Federal Minister of Spatial Planning Željko Nedić, we attended the ceremonial handing over of approval in principle for the construction of Bihać Airport, in accordance with the valid urban planning consent obtained in February of this year. This means that we are one step closer to the construction permit in accordance with the legal regulations at the level of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina”, said Hadžić.
According to him, the approval in principle enables the initiation of a series of preparatory works at the airport location, such as the formation of a construction line, road infrastructure, and electrical and water installations. The document also specifies the order of issuing individual building permits.
Hadžić announces that the Administration will already submit an application for a building permit for the construction of the runway at the beginning of January.
“This is the most financially and constructively demanding part of the project. After agreed instructions, we expect that by March of this year we can obtain a building permit and finally announce a public call for the execution of works on the field,” Hadžić pointed out.
He recalled that the preparation process was extremely extensive and complex, which is also confirmed by the number of required documents.
“In the process of obtaining urban planning consent, we had 66 different documents, and in the process of approval in principle about 40 documents from all levels of government in BiH. This speaks volumes about the scope and complexity of this process,” he added.
He especially emphasized that the Ministry praised the work of the Administration of JP Aerodrom Bihać and expressed readiness to continue cooperation in the final phase of project preparation.
If everything goes according to plan, the start of work on the runway could follow already in the first half of the year, with which the construction of Bihać Airport would finally move from the administrative to the practical implementation phase, he writes. Radio Sarajevo.
