Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine’s military now outnumbers Russia’s at a joint press conference with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Wednesday.
According to him, the Ukrainian armed forces number 880,000 soldiers, while the Russian forces in Ukraine have around 600,000 members.
Zelensky explained that 880,000 Ukrainian soldiers defend the entire territory of the country, while Russian troops are mostly concentrated in certain areas. The number of Ukrainian soldiers has increased significantly compared to 2023, when Zelensky stated that the armed forces of Kiev had 600,000 members, writes Newsweek, reports Index.
The Ukrainian military consists of multiple branches, including the Ground Forces, Air Force, Navy, Airborne Forces, Marines, Special Forces, and Territorial Defense Forces.
