The physical volume of electricity exports from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) in 2024 was 8.4 TWh, which is an increase of eight percent compared to 2023.
However, net export amounted to 2.5 TWh and is lower by 36 percent, and financially it amounts to 485 million KM, which is also 42 percent lower compared to 2023.
These data were presented to Fena by Edhem Bičakčić, president of the Regional Committee of the International Council for Large Electric Systems SEERC (CIGRE).
Based on the data presented in the report of the Independent System Operator in BiH and the Agency for Statistics of BiH, this amounts to about 640 million KM financially, which represents 60 percent of the value of exported electricity last year.
At the same time, the import of electricity amounted to 5.9 TWh, which is an increase of 57 percent compared to the previous year.
Electricity production in 2024 was 14.3 TWh, which represents a decrease of 8 percent compared to 2023, and this was mostly affected by bad hydrology.
Bičakčić notes that the production of hydroelectric power plants in 2024 is 4.7 TWh, which is 25 percent less, and the thermal power plant is 8.4 TWh, which is at the level of 2023.
Wind power plants, photovoltaic power plants and power plants connected to the distribution network produced 1.2 TWh. Consumption was 11.3 TWh, the same as in 2023.
The prices of electricity in the band on the stock market vary greatly: last week they were up to 300 EUR/MWh. On Tuesday they were 108 euros per MWh, and today 180 EUR/MWh.
