Australia’s health minister said Thursday that the quarantine period for repatriated passengers from a Dutch-flagged luxury cruise ship affected by the hantavirus outbreak will be extended to a total of 42 days, until June 23.
Four Australian citizens, one permanent resident and one New Zealand resident have been quarantined at a facility near Perth, Western Australia, since returning on May 15.
They were originally scheduled to stay there until June 5, but the quarantine was extended following recommendations from the authorities, Health Minister Mark Butler said.
– Passengers are informed about the government’s recommendation and decision. “I’m glad to say they’re still feeling good,” Butler added.
