On this occasion, the Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton announced today that they strongly condemned this incident.

“On the occasion of last night’s incident in the JU Dom zdravlja Canton Sarajevo, the Ministry of Health of the KS strongly condemns any form of violence against health workers.
Such events are completely unacceptable and deeply disturbing for the entire community.
Healthcare workers must not be the targets of attacks while performing their human duty. Their role in society is of fundamental importance, which is why their safety in the workplace must be fully guaranteed.
The Minister of Health of the Sarajevo Canton, Enis Hasanović, today, in the company of the director of the Health Center and the president of the trade union, visited the employees and the premises where the attack took place. This visit sent a clear message of support: “You are not alone.”
”We firmly stand by our healthcare workers and will resolutely protect their right to safe and dignified work, without fear for their own lives. Care for patients and care for those who treat them must not be opposed. There is no safe patient without a safe health worker,” said Minister Hasanović.
The KS Ministry of Health welcomes the changes to the criminal legislation that tighten the sanctions for attacks on health workers, but emphasizes that the key is in the full and consistent application of the law in practice. Violence in healthcare institutions requires an urgent, clear and decisive reaction from all competent institutions.
“Minister Hasanović expressed his full solidarity with his colleagues as a doctor, emphasizing that the work of health workers is worthy of the deepest respect, and their protection is one of the strategic priorities of the Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton,” they said.
