The Akhisar ship, completed last year in the command post of the shipyard in Istanbul, was delivered to the command staff of the Romanian naval forces.
The agreement marks a significant milestone in Turkish exports of defense equipment, and at the same time raises military cooperation between the two countries to a new level.
With this export, Turkey sold a combat ship (warship) to a member state of NATO and the European Union for the first time. This is considered a concrete indicator of the reliability, quality and technological competence achieved not only by ASFAT but also by the Turkish defense industry on the international stage.
The inclusion of Akhisar as a corvette (light corvette) in the Romanian fleet will not only contribute to regional maritime security, but will also strongly support the modernization goals of the Romanian naval forces, according to the Turkish government.
