As of today, the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina has direct access to the register of misdemeanors. All passengers and vehicles with recorded but outstanding fines may be stopped at the border and returned until they fulfill their obligations.
The new system enables more effective control and application of applicable regulations.
This was confirmed by the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Una-Sana Canton, Adnan Habibija.
“I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the director of IDDEEA BIH, Prof. Dr. Almir Badnjević, on the improved web service (application) intended for the needs of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The aforementioned web service will allow police officers of the BiH Border Police to view all registered offenses committed by vehicles on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which are issued by the competent ministries of interior affairs in BiH,” said Habibija.
The reason for this register lies in the fact that many drivers cross the border without paying a fine, which creates a problem for the MUPs with fine collection.
“The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Una-Sana Canton and the Police Directorate have been facing the problem of unpaid misdemeanor orders issued to vehicles registered in Western European countries for many years.
In the Una-Sana Canton, almost 18 million convertible marks of unpaid violations are currently recorded.
The new application represents a significant mechanism in establishing order and improving safety on the roads of the Una-Sana Canton.
From now on, the BiH Border Police has the ability to detain and return passengers with outstanding obligations,” said Habibija, writes Bosnia Info.
