Alpine skiing superstar Mikaela Shiffrin won her second consecutive World Cup slalom race with a dominant victory in Gurgl, Austria on Sunday.
Shiffrin achieved a total time of 1 minute and 48.11 seconds in two runs, giving no chance to second-placed Lara Coltura of Albania, who was 1.23 seconds behind. The third place went to the Swiss Camille Rast.
American star Shiffrin was hit hard by injury last season and failed to win a title in that discipline despite dominating the slalom for more than a decade.
But the 30-year-old returned to her best form, claiming a record 103rd World Cup win and 66th slalom success after winning the slalom in Levi, Finland, last weekend.
Last year’s champion of the World Cup in slalom, Zrinka Ljutić, did not finish the second run.
On Saturday, the Frenchman Paco Rassat achieved his first victory in the World Cup and a podium in the slalom and took the lead in the overall standings.
The men travel to Copper Mountain in Colorado next week for the super-G and giant slalom, while the women are scheduled to compete in the giant slalom and slalom.
