The Arsenal players were not entirely convincing in the 14th round of the English Premier League, but the leading team achieved a new league victory, defeating Brentford 2-0 at their stadium.
That put Arsenal back on five point advantage in comparison to second-placed Manchester City. Arsenal took the lead in the 11th minute when Merino headed home with a nice header to give his team the lead. Until the 91st minute, it was a minimal 1-0, and then Saka scored for 2-0 and confirmation of Arsenal’s three points.
Aston Villa outplayed away from home Brighton 4-3, although the home team led 2-0 after half an hour of play. Van Hecke first scored for the hosts, and in the 29th minute Torres hit his own net.
By the break, Aston Villa was already tied at 2-2, and both goals for the club from Birmingham were scored by Watkins. In the continuation of the meeting, there was a complete reversal. First, Onana scored for 3-2 after an hour of play, while Aston Villa stepped towards three points when Malen scored in the 78th minute to make it 4-2.
In the 83rd minute, Van Hecke cheered up the home fans once again and reduced the score to 3-4, but in the end the home team did not reach at least a point.
They recorded minimal away victories Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest. Crystal Palace won 1-0 at Burnley with Munoz’s goal in the 44th minute, while Nottingham Forest won at Wolverhampton with the same result. The only goal was scored by Igor Jesus in the 73rd minute.
The last game of this round is played on Thursday, and they meet Manchester United and West Ham.
