The number one tennis player in the world, Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, easily qualified for the round of 16 of the first Grand Slam tournament of the season.
Alcaraz is in the third round of the Australian Open with 6:2, 6:4, 6:1 beat the 32nd seed, the French Corentin Moutetathe 37th player in the ATP rankings.
Carlos Alcaraz is after three rounds still without losing a setand in the round of 16, he will face 19th seed Tommy Paul. With a 6:1, 6:1 lead, the American was handed the match by the 14th seed, Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
For 22-year-old Carlos Alcaraz, the match against Moutet was 100th in Grand Slam tournaments in which he reached his 87th victory. With an 87-13 win-loss record, he equaled the legendary Bjorn Borg’s record for the best start in the first 100 matches at Grand Slams.
He is also a young Spaniard surpassed tennis legends like Rafael Nadal and John McEnroe who were 86-14 in their first 100 Grand Slam matches.

Medvedev came back after 0-2 against Maroszan
Harder than expected a Russian reached the round of 16 Daniil Medvedev who was losing 0-2 in sets against the Hungarian tennis player Fabian Maroszan.
The Hungarian won the first two sets with 7:6 (5), 6:4, then at the start of the third took Medvedev’s serve awaybut lost his serve immediately afterwards. After that, both of them were safe on their opening shot until the lead of the Russian player 6:5, who then “breaks”, wins the set and starts a big turnaround. Medvedev won the fourth set without losing a game, and in the decisive fifth, two “breaks” were enough for him, along with one lost serve, for the final victory.
The next opponent will be an American Learner Tien who knocked out Portuguese tennis player Nuna Borges 7:6 (11), 6:4, 6:2.
