Problems with the introduction of new entry control systems into the European Union could delay the implementation of another important measure for travelers. After the difficulties and major delays caused by the delay of the Entry and Exit System (EES), it is now uncertain when the implementation of the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) will begin.
As the Financial Times writes, there is a possibility that the start of the application of ETIAS will be moved to next year due to the problems that accompanied the implementation of the EES and affected travel to the countries of the European Union.
This decision directly applies to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who are in the group of those who have a special regime of entry into the EU, now through EES, and soon through ETIAS.
Under the ETIAS rules, citizens of countries outside the European Union that do not require a visa to enter the Schengen area, including citizens of the United Kingdom, Australia, the United States of America and Canada, will need to obtain an electronic travel authorization before a short-term stay.
The request will be submitted online by filling out a form, entering personal data, answering security questions and paying a fee in the amount of 20 euros. The authorization will be electronically linked to the passenger’s passport and will be valid for three years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first.
The obligation to apply ETIAS will apply to travelers from about 60 countries that are not members of the European Union, with certain exceptions. The fee will not be charged to children under the age of 18 or to people over the age of 70, but they will also be required to apply for a travel permit, it says. Avaz.
