Since the beginning of the Israeli attacks, Turkey has been among the leading countries delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza.
As of October 2023, Turkey has sent approximately 102,000 tons of humanitarian aid to Gaza by sea and air.
The recently achieved ceasefire in the enclave has created an opportunity for more sustainable aid delivery and in larger quantities.
In this framework, Turkey on Tuesday dispatched a ship with about 865 tons of humanitarian aid from the port of Mersin to the Egyptian port of Al Arish.
The shipment, organized under the coordination of Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD) and in cooperation with the Egyptian Red Crescent, included contributions from 17 non-governmental organizations.
Since the beginning of the Israeli attacks on Gaza in October 2023, Turkey has delivered humanitarian aid through 16 ships and 14 aircraft under the coordination of AFAD.
