Several mass graves have been found across Syria after the Assad regime was toppled.
One of the mass graves was discovered by civil protection teams and police forces in the Aleppo area.
The Syrian News Agency (SANA) announced on December 29 that a mass grave containing the remains of civilians executed by the Assad regime was found in the Hola region of Homs province.
It is estimated that there are many mass graves in Syria that have not yet been discovered.
Bashar al-Assad, who has been Syria’s leader for nearly 25 years, fled to Russia after anti-regime groups seized the capital Damascus on December 8 last year, ending the rule of the Baath Party, which had been in power since 1963.
The change comes after Hayat Tahrir al-Sham fighters seized key cities in a flash in an offensive that lasted less than two weeks.
A new administration led by Ahmed al-Sharaa took control of the country.
