According to the amendments to the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in July there will be the second increase in pensions this year, while the first one was in January and that was 11.2 percent. The Chairman of the Assembly of the Federation of Associations of Pensioners of FBiH, Haso Halilović, tells Faktor that the decision is being prepared.
– It is important that the payment of June pensions in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina takes place on July 3 and that a decision on the second adjustment of pensions this year is prepared. I expect that decision to be made sometime by July 20. I don’t believe it will be any sooner, it will probably take until July 15th for the Federal Bureau of Statistics to release official data on cost of living, inflation and wage growth. I repeat, I do not expect the increase to go below 5.8 percent, that is, six percent – says Halilović.
The payment of increased pensions is in August. The decision on the percentage increase of pensions is made by the Board of Directors of the Federal Institute for Pension and Disability Insurance, and is confirmed by the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The government in FBiH has promised a total increase in pensions this year of 17 percent. However, it should be recalled that it was said that in January pensions would be increased by 11.6 percent, but they were increased by 11.2 percent, and then adjusted by several pfennigs.
Halilović says that pensioners are worried because the difference between the number of employed and retired people in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is decreasing.
– The latest statistics say that we have 546,000 employees, and there are slightly over 470,000 pensioners. The difference between employees and pensioners is approximately 76,000. That worries us – says Halilović.
Pensioners with minimum pensions ranging from 434.62 KM to 666.76 KM, and who live in the territory of the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo with June pensions, will also receive a one-time financial aid of 70 KM each, for which the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo allocated 400,000 KM, it says. Factor.
