The players of Zrinjsko achieved an extremely important victory on the road in Banja Luka, where they defeated Borac in the late match of the third round of the WWIn League of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Mostar team won with a minimal result and thus remained in a direct fight for the top of the table.
The guests were the first to threaten in the seventh minute, when Matej Šakota had an ideal opportunity after a breakthrough and a precise pass from Pranjić, but he sent the ball over the home team’s goal.
The fighter retaliated ten minutes later. After an action on the right side and an attractive play by Juričić with the heel, Jojić shot from the edge of the penalty area, but the ball went just past the post.
By the end of the first half, opportunities were seen on both sides, but the nets were still. At the end of the first part, Zrinjski also suffered bad luck, because captain Nemanja Bilbija had to leave the field due to an injury.
The winner was decided at the very beginning of the second half. Antonio Ivančić was brought down in the Borca penalty area, and referee Ljajić awarded a penalty. Goalkeeper Šiškovski saved the first shot from Šakota, but Zrinjski’s striker still sent the ball into the net from the rebound to give the visitors the lead.
After conceding the goal, Borac stepped up the pressure, and the home side gained additional hope in the 72nd minute, when Zrinjski was left with one less player. Dujmović was sent off due to the second yellow card, which was the first dismissal of a Mostar club player this season. Earlier, the assistant coach of Zrinjski Marijo Tot also received a red card.
Despite the numerical advantage and strong attacks at the end of the match, Borac did not manage to equalize. Zrinjski kept the advantage and won all three points, thus closing in on the leader of the championship, only three points behind.
