A particularly interesting part is related to refereeing in domestic football, where Zeljković presented an interesting thesis.
The first man of Bosnia and Herzegovina of the association pointed out that in every league there are clubs that, not always, but quite often, have a privileged status with the referees based on size, name and rating.
“What is true and what should be known and said is that in every league there are clubs that at certain times may have, let’s say, a certain wind at their backs that is allowed by the referees. In Spain they are Real Madrid and Barcelona, in Italy Juventus, Milan, Inter, etc. In our league, it’s Sarajevo, Željo, Borac and Zrinjski, whether someone likes it or not, that’s a fact,” Zeljković said, then added:
“That needs to be changed because there is no reason for better refereeing in Borc, Sarajevo, Zrinjski than Igman and so on, but in certain moments it’s just the way it is and it takes time to change and lower it a bit. But, it’s nothing different compared to other leagues, it’s just that it’s treated and presented differently, so some analyzes are made and so on. I think there should be a little more collegiality between the clubs.”
Vico Zeljković previously served as the president of Borca, but he admitted to Meridian Sport BiH that he does not mind being called names because he is loyal to the club from Banja Luka.
“I don’t mind the name-calling that I am devoted to the Fighter. It is natural for them to say that I am attached to Borac, but let’s say to Leotar from Trebinje. Through my work and work in the association, I have shown that I look at all clubs the same. The field was not made only for the Fighter, it was also made for all others who could fulfill the other conditions. Reflectors are applied to everyone, VAR is applied to everyone, not just Borc. Now someone will say that VAR is used one way or another with Borca, but that is spin as far as Borca is concerned. It is simply impossible for Borac in Europe to produce the results he is producing, while some people in Bosnia and Herzegovina, for reasons known to themselves, present themselves differently. If that were the case, Borac would not have achieved results, he would have had zero points in Europe,” Zeljković pointed out.
