On the agenda of the Assembly session today, a proposal for a strategic partnership agreement with Sanin Mirvić will be considered, as well as a proposal for amendments to the Statute of FK Željezničar, so that the entire work could eventually be implemented.
Agreement
The strategic partner is Sanin Mirvić, brother of Ismir Mirvić, the “majority owner” of bitter city rival FK Sarajevo. The strategic partnership agreement was kept secret, but according to the information that was leaked to the public by the “boss”, i.e. the investor would independently make all decisions, which is also logical because he will have a majority package of positions in all club bodies.
Unofficially, he agreed that crucial strategic issues in FK Željezničar should be decided by consensus. In particular, the property of the club should be protected and Sanin Mirvić could not possibly sell it without a unanimous decision of the management.
According to information from Vijesti.ba, the mood among the vast majority of the members of the Assembly of FK Željezničar is positive regarding the signing of a contract with a strategic partner, and whether the popular “Željo” will go into informal privatization will be known tonight, after several months of negotiations with Mirvić.
The meeting is scheduled for 20:00 in the Blue Hall of the “Grbavica” stadium. The meeting will also discuss the work of the Management and Supervisory Boards, in which there will almost certainly be changes soon if Sanin Mirvić takes the presidential chair.
A rarity in the world of football
If a strategic partnership happens, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, i.e. the two biggest clubs in the country and the fiercest rivals will get “brother owners”, which will be an interesting rarity in the world of football.
For FK Željezničar, this would mean a better and more stable financial situation, which in a certain period, would probably bring a stronger, strong playing staff with which the team from Sarajevo’s Grbavica would once again be able to attack trophies.
“Return to the paths of old glory”, thousands of fans of “Zelje” have been wishing for years. The near future will show whether their dreams will come true.
