The management of the English Premier League club West Ham United handed the resignation to the Spanish coach Julen Lopetegui, dissatisfied with the club’s results, the London club announced.
“The first half of the season was not in line with the club’s ambitions and the club has therefore taken measures in line with its goals,” the club said in a statement.
“The management would like to thank Julen and his staff for their hard work during their time with us and wish them every success in the future,” it added. The Spanish expert took over the Hammers at the beginning of this season, and in 22 matches under his leadership, the team recorded seven wins, five draws and 10 losses.
During his career, Lopategui also managed Wolverhampton, Sevilla, Real Madid, the Spanish national team, Porto, Rayo Vallecano… West Ham is currently in 14th place in the league table with 23 points, seven more than the relegation zone.
Former Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion manager Graham Potter is the biggest candidate to take over the club, according to British media.
