The Prime Minister of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, Nezir Pivić, and the Minister for Spatial Planning, Transport and Communications and Environmental Protection, Adnan Šabani, today visited the construction site on the section of the regional road R457 Zenica – Babino, where the final layer of asphalt is being laid, and the section should be officially put into traffic tomorrow.
The contractor is the company KOMGRAD-ZE, and the financier is the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Transport and Communications and Environmental Protection of ZDK, i.e. the Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton.
– Today we are witnessing the completion of works on a section of the road that is of great importance for the citizens of this area. During the past year, about 1.5 million KM was invested in the reconstruction of the road infrastructure in this area. We know that citizens have been waiting for a solution to this problem for a long time, and we are glad that we fulfilled that promise – said Prime Minister Nezir Pivić.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton is determined to continuously invest in the development of road infrastructure, primarily in the construction and reconstruction of regional roads that are under the jurisdiction of the Canton, but also to help local communities through programs of co-financing projects through public calls.
Pivić announced the continuation of the reconstruction of the regional road towards Kakanj, on the section from Arnaut to Donji Kakanj.
– The determination of the ZDK Government is the continuation of strong investments in road infrastructure, because high-quality and safe roads mean a better life for citizens and a strengthening of the economy. For this purpose, we have allocated significant funds, so next year we expect even more intensive work at several locations in the Canton – said Prime Minister Pivić.
Adnan Šabani, Minister for Spatial Planning, Transport and Communications and Environmental Protection of the ZDK, stated that about 1.5 million KM have been invested in this section so far, and that it is a “modern and stable road that will significantly improve traffic connections between Zenica and the surrounding settlements”.
– This year, we completed nearly two kilometers of road in this direction. The deadline for the completion of the works is October 30, when the road will be put into traffic. There is still the installation of protective fences in some parts. In the coming year, we will continue with investments and works to improve the road infrastructure throughout the Canton – emphasized Šabani.
