Tonight against Mega, Bosnia’s BH Telecom basketball players have the opportunity to take the first of four necessary steps towards qualifying for the play-offs of the ABA League. A possible passage to the next stage of the competition would represent an extremely successful result, especially if you consider that this is the first season of the Sarajevo club in the regional league after a break of almost 15 years.
In the first meeting between them this season, Mega showed a high level of play and recorded a convincing victory, so the order of the Bosnia team is a demanding task. Although the Serbian team is considered the favorite, Bosnia has repeatedly proven during the current part of the season that it can compete with better opponents.
Bosnia currently has a record of six wins and six losses, while Spartak is 7-7. An important advantage of Studenat is reflected in the fact that they defeated the team from Subotica in both duels this season, which could play a key role in the final standings.
Bosnia needs three wins in the last four rounds of the regular season, assuming Spartak achieve maximum performance by the end. Such an outcome would certainly bring placement in the Top 8 and passage to the next stage of the competition, and the first test on that road is a duel against Mega.
After today’s game, Bosnia will face a difficult away game against Budućnosti on January 24th, then a trip to Austria where they will play against Vienna on January 30th, while the regular part of the season will conclude with a home match against Illyria on February 7th.
On the other hand, Spartak also has a demanding schedule, since they will welcome Budućnost at the end of January, and then at the beginning of February they will visit Mega.
Everything points to an extremely uncertain end of the season, in which every point and every victory will be of great importance, and Bosnia realistically remains in the game for placement among the best teams of the ABA league.
