The acting prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Turkey submitted a proposal to the Tuzla Cantonal Court for the determination of custody measures for Ranko Gurdeljević (31) from Zvornik due to the existence of a well-founded suspicion that he committed the crime of robbery as an accomplice.
He is suspected of being part of a criminal group, helped three suspects in committing the criminal offense of robbery, and which is related to the events of November 19, 2025 in Kalesija, when three masked and armed robbers came to Kalesija, two of them entered a jewelry store, tied up the owner and stole a certain amount of gold jewelry, and then shot police officers in the center of Kalesija while fleeing.
The suspect was deprived of his liberty in the area of Zvornik by members of the Zvornik PU and handed over to the jurisdiction of the SKP of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Turkey and the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Turkey for further processing. Another person who was deprived of his liberty was questioned and then released, because he cannot be directly linked to these criminal acts.
There is a well-founded suspicion that Ranko Gurdeljević, together with three other persons who directly participated in the commission of several criminal acts, participated as an assistant in the creation of a criminal plan, with clearly divided roles in the group. and he transported three members of the group to Osmak with his vehicle, where the three of them took over another car and headed to Kalesija to commit robbery and rob a jewelry store.
Two suspects are being sought, while one member of the group, Matija Gordeljević (45) from Zvornik, has died. The persons who are on the run are accused of having committed the crimes of robbery, assault on an official in the performance of security duties, and robbery as part of a criminal group.
We remind you that on November 19, around 7:25 a.m., the Kalesija Police Department was notified that a robbery was in progress at a jewelry store in the center of Kalesija. Immediately after the report, several police officers intervened in order to prevent their further illegal actions, and they spotted the suspects in the car at the time of their escape.
Upon spotting the police officers, the three bandits, aware that they were using firearms to attack officials in the performance of public security and public order duties, knowing that they were caught in the act of committing criminal acts, and with the aim of keeping the stolen gold and silver jewelry and escaping, started shooting from the car at the police officers and fired a large number of shots at them.
Police officers, in order to prevent them from escaping and further attacking them, and in order to prevent their further illegal actions, which could have dangerous consequences for the lives and health of citizens, as well as for the lives and health of police officers, they used official weapons and fired several shots in the direction of the car in which they were suspected, after which the robbers drove away in the direction of Zvornik.
All available forces of the Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Turkey were immediately sent to the field, and the police forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, the Police Department of Zvornik, and the Border Police of BiH were also involved, given that the suspects had moved away from the scene.
By undertaking further investigative and operational actions in the field, police officers found an abandoned and burned car used by the suspects in the town of Jelovo Brdo near Kalesija and found the lifeless body of one of the suspects, Matija Gordeljević, near the car.
After the autopsy of the deceased’s body, the forensic medicine expert established that death occurred due to damage to vital centers in the brain as a result of a gunshot wound in the neck area of the head.
During the investigation, which was carried out in several locations by the prosecutor on duty and investigators of the SKP MUP TK and OKP PU Kalesija, numerous traces and evidentiary materials were found and seized, during which a large amount of cartridges and pellets fired from firearms were also found.
The Prosecutor’s Office of the TK and the investigators of several police agencies carry out extensive investigations with the aim of documenting these events, criminal acts and obtaining all the necessary material evidence. An intensive search for suspects is underway.
Police officers of the PU Kalesija, who participated in the prevention of several illegal actions by suspects, dangerous to the lives and health of citizens, handed over their official weapons and uniforms in order to carry out the necessary expert examinations. Traces of gunpowder particles and paraffin gloves from police officers were also taken.
All traces from the scene, including the found casings and pellets, will be subject to expert examination in the further course of the investigation.
The police agencies and the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Turkey will continue with an intensive and detailed investigation with the aim of depriving the suspects who are on the run, as well as obtaining all the necessary evidence in the further course of the investigation and criminal proceedings.
