The law voted all 78 representatives present, without votes against and restrained. The amendments sent the FBiH government in the parliamentary procedure.
The new provisions introduce concepts such as gender-based violence, while Femicid is defined for the first time as a criminal offense – a gender-based murder of a woman for which the sentence of 10 years is prescribed to a long-term prison.
For mental violence, a sentence of imprisonment is provided for up to one year.
The adopted text contains a total of 63 members who propose amendments to the numerous provisions of the FBiH Criminal Code. The special focus is placed on the protection of children and families, and on tightening the penalties for violence, sexual delicacies and abuse of position.
The law partially assumes Directive (EU) 2024/1385 on the combating violence against women and domestic violence, and its adoption is part of the implementation process of Istanbul and Lanzarote Convention.
In addition to fematicides, amendments include new sentencing rules, boundaries of mitigation, criminal offenses, imprisonment of prison, and rules on the work of convicted persons and rehabilitation.
Legal definitions and sanctions for criminal offenses such as murder, rape, abduction, the unlawful interruption of pregnancy, abuse of children, rodusckes, and exploitation of children at pornographic purposes are also changing.
The bill is now going to consider at the FBiH Parliament Peoples.
