The book brings more than 30 works from the 1991 Events from 1991. and 1992. According to the promoters, it is especially important because it offers direct testimony of the Patriotic League, the organizational structure of the resistance and the role of state institutions that preceded the establishment of the RBiH Army.
The President of the Association of the Borage of the Patriotic League of BiH and one of the promoters, the Retired General Sulejman Vranj pointed out that the book is the result of the State Defense “and that it offers insight into” crucial political and security processes “from 10. June 1991. until 9. April 1992. Years.
– This is not a narrative of “said-Kazala ‘” these are the words of those who wore events. The patriotic league is not improvisation, but part of a serious state project. Behind her, institutions stopped – from the Presidency of BiH and President Izetbegović, to individuals from the Ministry of Interior and other structures that were with us – Vranj said.
According to him, the book shows that in the period without full control of the state apparatus, in the conditions of the presence of several military formations and foreign services, the patriotic response was based, systemically and politically supported.
– We organized the people, collected information, analyzed the risks and acted in accordance with the circumstances. Conference from Igman, through Mostar and Kalesia, to Bubble, were the foundation of the design of the answer. This paper led to the formation of the territorial defense, and then the Armies of RBiH – Vranj pointed out.
Professor Salih Kulenović, also one of the promoters and authors of one of the works in the Proceedings, emphasized that this book is the result of multi-year research and is only the first step in a broader publishing project.
– There are 30 papers here, but the material has much more. Our goal is to issue another and the third collection. The key value of this book is that it shows how citizens of BiH were organized in order to defend the internationally recognized state – said Kulenović.
He pointed out that the formation of the Patriotic League was the term of the will of the people, but also a process that demanded huge effort, political wisdom and institutional support in specific local conditions.
– Every environment had its dynamics. It was difficult to explain to the authorities and the people we do. People doubted, many people still believe in Yugoslavia. However, we managed to deal with the legitimacy and show that the resistance is possible – Kulenović added.
The promotion was also attended by retired General Jamal Merdan and the historian Mesud Hero, and the organizers announce the continuation of this project with the aim of comprehensive documentation and understanding the process of Bosnian resistance.
