The search for the robbery suspect, with the use of firearms in the center of Kalesija, is still ongoing. The robbers, during the robbery of the jewelry store, fired shots in the direction of the police officers. Several bullets hit the buildings of the nearby school and the Municipality. During the pursuit, one of the suspects was found lifeless.
A new shock for the residents of Kalesija. There was an unusual shooting in the street at the time of departure for work and school, which disturbed the citizens. During the robbery of the jewelry store, the bandits fired several shots at the policemen, who returned fire. Six bullets hit a nearby school and one hit the Municipality building.
“When it happened, I noticed a vehicle. However, I noticed a lady who was taking children to school. I would like to praise the policemen for their speed, in half a minute they were there next to the vehicle”, said Ramiz Jakubović, porter in Kalesija Municipality.
According to the witnesses, one of the suspects was wounded, and then the accomplices put him in a vehicle that, as we unofficially learn, was stolen earlier, and started to run away. A chase ensued. Police officers from Živinice, Sapna, Kalesija, Republika Srpska, and with the support of the Border Police, set up barricades. A few kilometers from the center of the municipality, in the town of Jelovo Brdo, burning cars and a lifeless body were found in front of the vehicles, the Police Administration confirmed. It is assumed that this is one of the robbers who was wounded earlier.
According to eyewitnesses, the robbers tied up the owner of the jewelry store at gunpoint, and the citizens who saw this immediately called the police, who soon appeared on the scene. Unofficially, we learn that the owner of the jewelry store was given medical help due to the shock he suffered.
“First of all, I would like to thank the members of the Kalesija police station for their very quick and generous action. This is one proof that the state and the system exist in Kalesija”, stressed the head of Kalesija Municipality, Nermin Mujkanović.
On Thursday, the Collegium of the Municipal Council will be held with the aim of defining further steps when it comes to this case, in which the Tuzla Canton Prosecutor’s Office is also involved.
While in recent years we have been hearing that both at the level of the Canton and at the level of FBiH the situation is satisfactory when it comes to security, the citizens of Kalesija appeal to the authorities to increase the number of police officers on the streets, so that they feel safer.
