Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman will visit the White House on November 18, a White House official confirmed on Monday.
During the official working visit, bin Salman will meet with President Donald Trump, who has chosen Saudi Arabia as his first foreign destination at the start of both of his presidential terms.
The two sides are expected to discuss several important agreements, including those in the fields of defense and technology. Bilateral relations between Washington and Riyadh have deepened significantly in recent months.
During Trump’s visit to the Kingdom in May, the two countries signed Memorandums of Intent worth $142 billion, which include significant Saudi investments in the US defense industry.
A deal that would allow American companies to export advanced semiconductor chips to Saudi Arabia could soon be finalized, according to sources previously cited by The Wall Street Journal.
Last week, the Saudi company HUMAIN and the American Qualcomm Technologies announced a historic agreement aimed at positioning Saudi Arabia as a global center for the development of artificial intelligence (AI). The announcement, presented on the sidelines of the ninth edition of the Future Investment Initiative (FII) Forum in Riyadh, builds on the partnership announced in May during the Saudi-American Investment Forum that was part of Trump’s visit to the Kingdom.
According to a joint statement, the new collaboration aims to provide global AI services through what the companies described as the first fully optimized edge-to-cloud hybrid AI platform.
