Members, Women of the Breast Cancer Meeted to try to raise social awareness of the importance of preventive breast examinations for the purpose of early detection of breast cancer and, consequently, reducing mortality.
As they reminded from the ‘Renaissance’ Association, the Canadian Society for Cancer used Narcissus as a symbol in its events in 1956. year, when their volunteers shared flowers and thus collecting cancer research.
The President of the Association “Renaissance” Enida Glušac said that “a day of narcissus” is the awakening of a new life, some new hope.
– We have gathered here today and we share our fellow citizens, and they assist with our modest donations to the work of the “Renaissance” association. In this way, we are telling them about the importance of inspection and self-views of the breast and thus raise awareness of the breast cancer. We invite you to join us, and reporting to this significant event to contribute to our voice as possible, in order to influence the awareness and importance of preventive examinations and early disease disclosure – said Glusac.
As it stands out, the goal is to draw attention to an increasing number of cancer patients and animate public on self-conflation, regular reviews and disease prevention.
– The day of the Narcissus is a traditional action that occurs throughout the world, even with us and we are happy to share our experiences again, present our association’s work and draw the problems that oncological patients face in all of BiH. And at this point in the oncology lacks several basic cytostatics. There is still more than a thousand people on the drug list. Hundreds of those who cannot do not even on the waiting list because the drug that needs and which is prescribed from an ordinant oncologist is not indicated by the Solidarity Fund Commission. They buy the medicine, without the possibility of refunding it, and drug prices are extremely high, several thousand KM per month. The list of drugs for more than six years has not been revised, although in the world, and even the countries in the environment are operating several times a year because new, modern drugs – stand out from the ‘Renaissance’ association ‘with a call for today’s action.
The member of the “Renaissance” Association Alma Šehić pointed out that the awareness of breast cancer is not yet at the same level on which it should be.
– Although day by day, and as time moves, the awareness of the prevention of breast cancer is increasing. I advise all the women that he is self-existing and that every woman should go to ultrasound of breast or mammography once a year, because on time of the raided disease is very well treated – he said, Šehić.
