Hajduk’s offensive 22-year-old midfielder Madžid Šošić is leaving Hajduk.
In the next few days, he should officially complete the transfer to Željezničar, and he should pass for free. Hajduk only agreed with the Bosnian club on the right to a percentage of the next transfer, which amounts to between 30 and 40%.
Šošić is going to the home field because he came to Hajduk from Željezničar. In June, he made his debut for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team. Menu Sergej Barbarez he invited him to the gathering for two friendly matches against England (0:3) and Italy (0:1), and introduced him into the game in the 89th minute of the match against Italy.
In itself it would not be strange if talented young player makes his debut for the national team in a friendly match, but when we put it in the context that Šošić came to Hajduk in August 2020 and before his appearance for the national team he did not make a single appearance for the first team of the Whites, then it is very unusual, according to Index.
It probably is a unique case in the history of Hajduk that someone debuted for the national team rather than for the club. Šošić won the invitation with good performances in Radomlje, Hajduk’s partner club, which competes in the first Slovenian league. Last season, he made 34 appearances in the league and cup and scored 10 goals and added three assists.
He was one of the top rated players in the league and probably the main reason that Radomlje avoided relegation from the first tier. He was among the 30 players who made themselves available to the coach Gennaro Gattuso from the beginning of summer preparations for the new season.
It was not the first time that Šošić was on summer training with Hajduk, because he Ivan Leko led last season and it seemed that he could fight to stay in the club. However, that did not happen, instead he was transferred to Radomlje again after extending his contract with Bijeli until the summer of 2026.
Šošić came to Hajduk in the summer of 2020 from Željezničar, when he turned 18. Previously, he was a member of all younger ages (up to U-19) of the BiH national team, for which he made 12 appearances and scored two goals.
