The goal of the SOS Center Support Program is to strengthen fostelity cooperation as a form of public care for children without parental care, and in order to improve the quality of care through the provision of professional, material and intangible support to foster families.
– Organization of SOS Children’s Villages International More than 75 years in 136 countries and the territory of the world works to ensure the best care for children and families in need. Programs in Bosnia and Herzegovina have been created in the past 30 years that each child gets a chance to grow up in a warm family environment, developing their full potential – he said at the opening of the Center’s regional director SOS Children’s Villages International Aladdin Ormanović.
He reminded that the past 15 years organization is aimed at empowering foster care as a form of child care, and the opportunity for the expertise to be acquired locally, and the parents who opened their homes and hearts.
– We truly believe that links that are created between children and parents have the strength to change their lives, and we will continue to work that no child would grow up just – Ormanovic pointed out.
The National Director of the Children’s Villages in BiH Malik Garibi stated that in SOS children in BiH have been working in BiH for 30 years to ensure that each child is growing up in a warm family environment.
– When it was not possible to ensure that children continued to live within biological families, we provided alternative families for them and they have been exclusively SOS families so far. Since this year, we are focused on the opening of foster care centers, first in the early February, and now in Sarajevo, in order to ensure that all that support has received so far, secure for foster families and children who live in their hide – said Garibia.
He stressed that it is not a short-term project, but on the strategic commitment of the organization, through which they want to make available resources, team and expertise to allow any children to grow up only.
The opening was also attended by the Federal Minister of Labor and Social Policy of Adnan Delić, which expressed satisfaction for the opening of the Center, but also hope that after the Tuzla and Sarajevo, such centers would receive other cities.
– I hope this is just the beginning of the activities we spend in cooperation with SOS children’s villages. Currently, amendments to the Law on Fortland in the Federation of BiH, SOS Children’s villages play an important role in these amendments – awarded award emphasizing the importance of the NGO sector in this segment.
The center will enable reception of at least 20 foster families per year in the Support Program, through the Cantonal Center for Social Work Sports Center and with the consent of foster families.
During the support period, SOS Children’s villages would assign to each foster family who plans and proposes appropriate treatment and provides professional support to each individual child through the development and monitoring of the individual development plan.
The center has been established within cooperation with the Sarajevo Canton Department and Sarajevo Cantonal Center and with the support of SOS Children’s villages of Austria.
