Prime Minister of Zenica-Doboj Canton Nezir Pivić and Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Mirza Mušija attended the ceremonial academy on the occasion of 80 years of existence and work of the First Gymnasium in Zenica.
The oldest educational institution in Zenica, which has existed under the name gymnasium since November 7, 1945, has produced numerous top doctors, scientists, engineers, artists and important people in all spheres of life not only in Zenica and the Zenica-Doboj canton, but in the whole of Bosnia and Herzegovina and beyond.
Prime Minister Pivić pointed out that investing in education is a strategic goal and priority of the Government he leads, which they have shown over the past two years through continuous investments in educational infrastructure, the procurement of free textbooks for primary school students, and the improvement of the financial position of educational workers whose salaries have been increased twice.
– This is certainly one of the best schools in ZDK and FBiH, which produced a large number of professors, intellectuals, people who marked this time that is behind us. I am sure that this school will provide the intellectuals that every society needs in the future. In accordance with that, this year we devoted a lot of attention to our gymnasium getting a new outfit and we secured significant funds that will provide complete warming and a new facade on the gymnasium building, which will give this building a new face. I hope that this school will continue with the successes it has had so far and that it will be the symbol of the city as it is now – said Prime Minister Pivić.
Next week, it is planned to sign the contract on the execution of works, which will be financed by the ZDK Government through the line ministry and UNDP. The government provided 238,773.00 KM, and the UNDP provided 133,602.00 KM.
– During these 80 years, the high school performed its function and produced great generations of people who spread the word not only about Zenica, but about the entire canton around the world. Those people recorded great successes in various fields and we are glad to have such an educational institution as the First High School – emphasized Mushija.
