It was held under the name “Bijader Atić – The chess legend of Tuzla” in memory of the Tuzla chess great.
This year, more than 150 elementary school students from 1st to 9th grade from all cities and municipalities of TK participated.
Director of Richmond Park International School Tuzla, Sadmir Delić, in his address at the opening of the festival, emphasized the importance of chess in the educational process.
– Chess is much more than a game. It develops logical thinking, patience, concentration, responsibility and respect for the opponent. Through chess, students learn to plan, accept victory with dignity, but also defeat with sportsmanship. This is precisely why chess has an important place in the extracurricular activities of the students of Richmond Park International School Tuzla – said Delić and thanked the teachers, mentors and parents who continuously support the students in their work and development, as well as the organizers and judges who, with their professional engagement, ensured that the competition took place in a fair, correct and friendly atmosphere.
Adnan Karahmetović, representative of the Tuzla chess club “Sloboda”, introduced the participants to the technical details and rules of the competition, stressing that the tournament has traditionally been held for the eighth year in a row.
Numerous high-quality and exciting chess games were played, and the competition took place in a fair and sporting spirit.
The regularity of the tournament was monitored by Rusmir Jašarević, a professor at Richmond Park International School Tuzla, together with the head judge Nihad Sušić and assistant judges Ishak Klopić, Armin Bijedić and David Tursunović.
