NK Široki Brijeg published a report on the current situation in the club on the club’s official website.

Supervisory Board of NK Široki Brijeg, aware of his responsibility to the public, sports institutions and all stakeholders of the club, hereby submits comprehensive and objective report on the state of the club, with special reference to the period of the last twelve months.
The goal of this report is to clearly, professionally and argumentatively present the current situation, the measures taken, the results achieved, but also the challenges the club is facing today.
Found condition
Upon assuming responsibility, the Supervisory Board found the club in extremely difficult financial, organizational and infrastructural condition. NK Široki Brijeg was in a situation that can objectively be described as almost unsustainablewith total debts in the amount of 5.3 million KMwith severely impaired liquidity and an infrastructure that did not even meet the basic standards of a professional sports team.
Such a situation represented a serious threat to the survival of the club, its reputation, and long-term sustainability.
Key steps forward and implemented activities
Despite the aforementioned challenges, in the past year, the Supervisory Board, in cooperation with the Administration and professional services, has achieved significant and measurable progress on several levels:
1. Infrastructure
- A comprehensive renovation of the club camp was carried out, which created a modern and functional infrastructure that today can rightly bear the epithet of imposing.
- Repair and purchase of equipment, from lawnmowers, tractors to the smallest tools needed for maintenance.
- The rehabilitation of the Pecara stadium was carried out, along with the resolution of a number of long-standing technical and safety deficiencies.
- A VIP tribune was built and arranged, intended for loyal sponsors, partners and people who continuously support NK Široki Brijeg, which further positions the club as a serious and respectable sports entity.
- The FAN Shop was completely renovated, which was moved to a new, strategically extremely important and imposing location, which improved the visibility of the club, its identity and relationship with fans.
- The reconstruction of the director’s office, press lounge and other club premises was made.
- The gym for the players has been completely renovated, as well as all the accompanying equipment necessary for the professional training process.
2. Sports and medical support
- The club received a completely renewed and professionalized medical team, in accordance with the standards of modern professional football.
- Clear work protocols and improved conditions for the sports profession and players have been established.
3. Sports results
In parallel with the infrastructural and financial stabilization, they were achieved exceptionally significant sports resultswhich additionally confirm the correctness of the direction in which the club was run:
- In the observed period, NK Široki Brijeg played in the final of the Cup of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which represents one of the biggest sporting successes of the club in recent years.
- In the championship, the club, despite forecasts of a fight for survival and the relegation zone, finished the season in 5th place, which exceeded all realistic expectations.
- Until October 2025, the club was in the immediate vicinity of 3rd and 4th place, confirming the continuity of sports progress and stability.
- Promotion of young players from their football school.
- Player transfers (Taraba, Jukić) after a long time.
These results clearly show that organizational order, financial discipline and investment in working conditions directly resulted in sporting success.
4. Financial consolidation
The found debt of 5.3 million KM was brought under control.
- By October 2025, the club has properly serviced its obligations and is returned 800,000 KM old debt.
- All obligations towards the Tax Administration, the electricity industry, suppliers, as well as obligations resulting from the termination of contracts with players and coaches, were properly regulated and under control until the specified period.
It is important to emphasize that this The Supervisory Board had no intention of creating new debtsbut exclusively restore the existing ones and work in parallel on the development and stabilization of the club.
Challenges and current state
Despite a clearly defined strategy, measurable results and responsible management, the club faced serious restrictions which exceed the capacities and powers of the Supervisory Board. Despite a clearly defined strategy and an adopted budget until October 2025, the club unfortunately faced the absence of support from higher levelswhich led to a serious disruption of financial stability.
Due to non-compliance with certain agreements and the lack of planned funds, the Supervisory Board found itself in an extremely difficult and unpleasant position towards the entire team of the club – from players and professional staff to employees of the labor union.
Today, the club again faces the level of debt which, unfortunately, comes close to the one found when assuming responsibility, and this is not the result of irresponsible management, but objective circumstances and unfulfilled obligations beyond the competence of the Supervisory Board.
Due to the stated situation, the Club Director and some members of the Supervisory Board have resigned, in order to enable the Club to find a new management that will have a clear vision and strategy for the improvement of the Club.
Conclusion and reinforced message to the public and institutions
The supervisory board of NK Široki Brijeg considers it necessary to send a clear, responsible and politically based message to all levels of government and relevant institutions:
- In the past year, NK Široki Brijeg has proven that it knows, can and wants to responsibly manage public and socially important resources.
- The club, with its own efforts and limited resources, rebuilt the infrastructure, stabilized the business, improved relations with sponsors and fans, and achieved top sports results.
- A club like this he must not and cannot be left to himself because it represents an important sporting, social and identity subject of the city and wider community.
The supervisory board clearly states that it does not want to participate in the creation of new debts, but exclusively in the model of sustainable financing, repayment of existing obligations and further development of the club.
This report should be seen as an invitation on responsibility, partnership and concrete actionbecause NK Široki Brijeg has knowledge, results and capacity, but without stable institutional support, long-term sustainability remains seriously threatened.
