After the Judgment of the Cantonal Court in Zenica, a lawsuit of the University of Zenica against the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and the Sports of Zenica-Doboj Canton is – attempts to maintain the illegal management structure at the head of the universities, they have finally fallen before judicial truth.
The verdict confirms the legality of the procedure of the Ministry, challenges the decision of the Senate on the selection of prof. dr. Jusuf Duraković for the Rector and rejects all legal structures that tried to justify his second candidacy and choice. The ZDK institutions operated in accordance with the law – and the court confirmed them.
Despite this, the statements that abound in manipulations, replacement of theses and attempts to be confused by the public from the UNZE. The claims that the verdict “has nothing to do with the status of the Rector” represent conscious public misbearing, inappropriately in the academic institution that should stand on the principles of knowledge, truth and justice.
Not only are they refused to commit court decisions, but employees are used as a means of pressure. In this context, the Union’s union organization was reasonably reacted to “University employees must not be hostages of personal or political ambitions, and that the payments of the University must not be in question due to illegal government retention.”
Instead of respecting the verdict, the UNZE Senate continues with political pamphemes, threats, manipulations and attempts to present judicial decisions as “Media Huka”. In their last statement, it is even publicly invited to the Government that “tried to delete the Rector from the Judicial Registry”, which only confirms the depth of the institutional crisis that they caused themselves university executives.
The University Senate cannot and must not ignore the Court. It is not a matter of opinion, but the question of the law.
In the interest of the stability, legality and protection of the public interest, the Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton requires the University Senate immediately appointed by the Rectors’ duty and eliminating illegalities for months. Any further refusal of the court judgment may have serious legal consequences, including personal responsibility of those responsible.
The integrity of the University of Zenica was defended before the Court. The law is clear. It’s time to figure it out and the Senate.
The Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton will continue, regardless of the pressures, protect the legality, integrity of public institutions and the dignity of employees. The university must not be anybody’s private property.
