Embassies in Malta, Luxembourg, Lesota, Republic of Congo, Central African Republic and South Sudan are recommended for closing. The list includes five consulates in France, two in Germany, two in Bosnia and Herzegovina, one in the UK, South Africa and South Korea.
It is also proposed to reduce the presence in diplomatic missions in Somalia and Iraq and “redistribution” of other diplomatic posts.
CNN states that it is not clear whether the Secretary of State Marko Rubio approved closures.
Changes come in the middle of the expected reform of the American Diplomatic Agency, prompted by the Government’s Efficiency Department (Doge), which supports Elon MUSK, with drastic changes for the decrease in the Federal Government.
