The Governing Board of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina has unlocked the funding and the money needed to finance the election technology for the needs of the Central Election Commission (CEC) today to be aimed at the Ministry of Finance, which will pay them to the CEC.
Following the decision of the High Representative Christian Schmidt that the money from the profit of central banks are financed by election technologies has been launched the procedure for meeting obligations. However, everything was related to the debt of the Slovenian company “ViaDuct”, which made the Republika Srpska, and by the decision of Schmidt debt that company was settled from the part that belonged to RS from excise duties.
Given that due to the debt “Viaduct” was endangered by the Central Bank’s assets. However, after resolving the issue of the mentioned debt, property, ie part of the Central Bank, no longer under the sign of the issue, so the Governing Board made the decision on unblocking profits.
Thus, today, 112.5 million KM will be paid to BiH Ministry of Finance, which the Ministry in its entirost will be given to the CEC, so that the institution may be announced by the International Tender for the Procurement of Equipment to be used in the next general election.
Given that it will take two or more months to end the tender, including complaints, the CEC as soon as possible, as soon as possible, to arrive and prepare and prepare (including training) for next elections.
Recall, the General Elections in BiH will be held in October 2026. And there will be the first time fully used technology such as a scanner, aimed at suppressing malversation when processing ballots. And everything happens after the High Representative imposed amendments to the election law, given that domestic politicians did not achieve consent for amendments to the law in parliament, writes Clix.
