– Bosnia and Herzegovina had continuity in its statehood, but it lost its independence and it is certainly very important to remember the year 1992 when independence was restored and that is why today we want to commemorate this, the most valuable day for our homeland – said the chairman of the Assembly of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Džafer Alić.
The message that this commemoration wants to send and emphasize is that it is extremely important to preserve the memory of that referendum from 1992 and everything that followed for preserving the independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina, both through the whirlwinds of war, as well as building a modern, contemporary state and its path towards the European Union.
– It is important that today we leave a message to young people that in terms of preserving the state and what we have gained here, we must be strong, we must all build a modern, good and beautiful state together for all of us, and that independence is not just a letter on paper, but is preserved by building state institutions, but also by preserving the continuity of independence in these areas – said Alić.
He emphasized that Mostar always had a feeling for building a modern state.
The deputy chairman of the Assembly of the Croatian National Assembly, Vesna Saradžić, pointed out that this is not just another anniversary, but something that should be cherished.
– We should point out that this is the day when Bosnia and Herzegovina chose the path of independence and sovereignty on the way to democratic European states. There are many challenges that BiH is facing today in preserving its sovereignty and territorial integrity, there are many aspirations, but I sincerely hope that BiH citizens recognize what is most important for our country at this moment – said Saradžić.
Visits and the laying of flowers at the memorial in the Liska harem, as well as the honoring of martyrs and fallen fighters of the 1992-1995 war of defense and liberation, are planned. on Sehitluci in Mostar.
The ceremonial academy on the occasion of the Independence Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be held tonight at 9 p.m. in the Mostar National Theater, organized by the chairman of the Assembly of the Croatian National Theater Džafer Alic and deputy chairman Vesna Saradžić.
