Writer, essayist and poet from Tešnj Amir Brka is the winner of this year’s award Literary awards of the Andrić days for his collection of songs “Wednesday Dinner”published by the Tešanj Center for Culture and Education. The award was presented to him at a solemn ceremony in Travnik, which also officially ended this year’s cultural event “Andric Days”.
The Andrić Days Award was established in 2022 under the auspices of the mayor of Travnik, Kenan Dautović, and is awarded to the best literary work published for the first time in the previous year on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the countries of Bosnia and Herzegovina. diaspora, whose authors are citizens or originally from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
She handed over the plaque and the awarding decision to the laureate Vanja Sivropresident of the Board of Directors of the Travnik City Library, while the winning sculpture named “Half Open Book” handed to Amir Brka Tahir Lendoprime minister of Central Bosnia Canton.
The shortlist for this year’s award included two more notable works – “CVII” author Damir Ovčine and “The Book of Almir” writers Adise Bašić.
At the ceremony, they addressed those present prof. Ph.D. Jenan Kosdirector of the Public Library Travnik, Amir Vrhovacadviser to the mayor of the Municipality of Travnik, and prof. Ph.D. Perina Meićpresident of the expert committee, who explained the decision on this year’s laureate.
They completed the cultural and artistic part of the program Amila Ravkicsoloist of the Sarajevo National Theater Opera, i Zerina Šabotićpianist and associate of the Music Academy of the University of Sarajevo, while they hosted the program Amela Bajric, Kenan Kavazovic and Maja Đurić.
By winning this prestigious award, Amir Brka once again confirmed his importance and recognizable voice in contemporary Bosnian literature.
