Through practical work, the goal is to empower young people, but also improve the work of the city of Mostar.
The Memorandum was solemnly signed by the President of the City Council Giana Rahimic and the Rector of the University of Alen Huseinbegović, saying that cooperation envisages knowledge, joint activities and the involvement of students in the work of the City Administration.
– It is about organizing professional practice for students. Through the institutions of the city of Mostar, which are related to the university, students will acquire new experiences and help the city of Mostar, and at the same time enrich its knowledge and professional skills – Rahimic pointed out.
He added that the city, although not competent for higher education, remains open for such initiatives that contribute to the community.
Rector Huseinbegović reminded that the University and the City of Mostar have been cooperating successfully for years, and as one example she cited the construction of the sports center that the city of Mostar was co-financed.
– This is just a continuation of cooperation through student practice and looking forward to having many significant projects together – she said.
The Mayor of Mostar Mario Kordić stated that the signing of this memorandum is the continuation of partnerships with higher education institutions in Mostar, reminding that it was previously signed a similar agreement and with the University of Mostar.
This is the proof of the commitment of the city of Mostar, the mayor, to recognize the importance of education.
– Mostar is one of the few cities that have two highly educational institutions whose states are of the local community, as well as the state, and said that the city recognizes the huge potential that bear young people, since Mostar today have about 12,000 students.
According to him, these agreements like this, students want to connect theory and practice, and the practice has so far indicate that some of students have also found their first employment.
Kordić also announced the possible expansion of cooperation, especially in the field of infrastructure projects.
– Understanding that both higher education institutions have fantastic faculties, primarily I mean the construction, I think that through this kind of cooperation we can make an additional step forward – the mayor.
