Slovenia with the largest quarterly drop in EU residential property prices in the EU

The prices of residential properties in the EU were in the first quarter of this year more by 5.7 percent than in the same period last year.

Slovenia recorded an under average increase of 3.2 percent. Compared to the last quarter of last year, prices in the EU were 1.4 percent. Slovenia recorded a decrease of 2.0 percent, which was the largest decline in the Union.

In the Urse Eurovail year, year-on-year growth was 5.4 percent, and the quarter growth of 1.3 percent, according to the publication of the European Statistical Office Eurostat.

Among the 26 EU Member States for which data were available, 25 countries recorded a year-on-year growth of housing prices, while only one, Finland (-1.9 percent) was declining.

The largest growth was recorded in Portugal (16.3 percent), Bulgaria (15.1 percent), Croatia (13.1 percent), Spain (12.3 percent), Slovakia (12.2 percent) and the Netherlands (10.7 percent).

Slovenia recorded a growth below the average of 3.2 percent, was also recorded in Austria, and similar dynamics were recorded in Belgium (2.7 percent) and Germany (3.8 percent), SEEbiz reports.

Compared to the last quarter last year, prices have fallen into the four EU member states, as per Slovenia, which recorded a quarterly decrease in 2.0 percent, and in Luxembourg (-1.2 percent), Finland (-1.0 percent) and Italy (-0.2 percent).

Meanwhile, the most growth rates were recorded in Hungary (5.2 percent), Portugal (4.8 percent), Croatia (4.5 percent), Bulgaria (4.2 percent) and Spain (3.6 percent).

Eurostat also gently revised backward data. In the last quarter last year, year-on-year growth in the EU and the eurozone amounted to 4.9 percent and 4.1 percent, and the quarter growth of 0.7 percent and 0.6 percent.
