The Croatian Football Federation (HNS) has chosen Alexandria, a city in the immediate vicinity of the US capital Washington, as the base camp of the Croatian national team during the World Cup, which will be held in Canada, Mexico and the USA this year, HNS announced on its official web portal (hns.team).
The base camp consists of AKA hotel and training center at Episcopal High School.
Opening in 2023, the AKA Hotel is located near the Potomac River and is just a six-minute drive from Ronald Reagan Airport. The bishop’s high school is located about 15 minutes’ drive from the AKA hotel, and its sports facilities are among the best in the region. In addition to the football field of the highest standard, the training center also offers a top fitness center and a well-equipped gym, as well as equally high-quality recovery rooms, the press release stated.

Alexandria offers us the best combination an excellent training center and a comfortable hotel, in close proximity to the airport and a good geographical position in relation to the cities where we play the first round matches. On the sports side, and it is always our first priority, we will have really top-quality conditions at the Bishop’s Gymnasium, from the field to the fitness center and the recovery rooms, so we didn’t have many doubts, everything “settled right” for us, including pleasant hosts in the hotel and the training centerstated the technical director of Pletikos.
From everything we heard and saw, Alexandria was the best choice for us and it is for me glad we were able to secure that location.
