As part of the operational action code-named “Gora”, under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and according to the orders of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, police officers of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on November 18 and 19, 2025, after three months of operational activities, conducted a search of residential and other buildings, accompanying premises and personal belongings of suspected persons, with the temporary confiscation of items.
The activities are carried out in a large number of locations in the area of Zvornik and Sarajevo, with the aim of documenting the criminal offenses referred to in Article 189a. paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code of BiH – “Organizing a group or association to commit the criminal offense of smuggling migrants”, and from Article 189, paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code of BiH – “People smuggling”, and all in connection with Article 29 of the Criminal Code of BiH.
During the night and morning, a total of 13 persons were deprived of their liberty – ten suspected BiH citizens, as well as three foreign citizens of Afro-Asian origin, for whom a significant amount of evidence of involvement in illegal activities across the state border was collected during the investigation. It was established that, under the cover of the taxi business, they organized and implemented the smuggling of migrants from the Republic of Serbia to Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the aim of obtaining illegal property benefits.
During the investigation, data was collected that the mentioned criminal group planned and carried out the smuggling of at least 500 migrants in a period of approximately three months, and it is estimated that the illegal property benefit of at least 50,000 KM was realized.
This morning’s activities were carried out with the assistance of officials from the Service for Affairs with Foreigners of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Given that a part of the criminal group also operated in the territory of the Republic of Serbia, for the last month the activities were carried out in close cooperation and coordination with the police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, and the competent institutions continue further activities in accordance with the law.
The results of the “Gora” action confirm the determination of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina to protect the state borders, preserve the safety of communities and protect all citizens, as well as the readiness for joint and continuous cooperation with the police agencies of other countries.
