NBA stars Luka Dončić and Dennis Schröder are at the center of a big conflict this season that is still going on, and new details of the incident came to the public after the German basketball player was suspended for three games.
The decision on the suspension was made by the leadership of the NBA after the events that followed the match between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Sacramento Kings at the end of 2025. Only now are all the circumstances of the conflict between Dončić and Schröder known.
During the game itself, cameras repeatedly recorded verbal clashes between the two players on the floor, which was a continuation of the tensions that started in the previous duel.
The situation further escalated when Dončić sent a provocative message to Schröder saying that he should have signed that contract.
With that, the Slovenian alluded to Schröder’s decision from a few years ago when he rejected a multi-million dollar offer from the Lakers, convinced that he could get a better contract, but later signed a much more modest engagement with the Boston Celtics.
Schröder was extremely angry because of Dončić’s words, so after the game he looked for him inside the hall. According to the available information, he waited in front of the locker room for even 40 minutes with the intention of physically confronting Dončić.
When the Slovenian basketball player finally appeared, Schröder approached him, and the official statement of the NBA states that he tried to hit him.
According to witnesses, the situation was much more serious than originally thought. Markieff Morris revealed on his Morris Code Show podcast that there was also physical contact.
Morris stated that he was immediately informed of the incident and believes that such a situation would not have occurred if he had been present. According to him, Schröder put his hands on Dončić, after which Deandre Ayton reacted and dragged him away to prevent a bigger incident.
Morris, who was previously Doncic’s teammate in Dallas, claims that there is bad blood between Doncic and Schröder dating back to when they played in Europe. He also added that Schröder knows certain things about Dončić that are not known to the general public.
In his opinion, the NBA would not have imposed a three-game suspension if a serious incident with the Lakers star had not occurred behind the scenes.
