The director of the “Sarajevo Winter” Festival, Ibrahim Spahić, said that the theme of this year’s festival is “Sarajevo Dialogues and Artificial Intelligence and Art”.
Spahić pointed out that for the first time the ceremonial opening is being held at the Faculty of Economics.
– It is a place of knowledge, a place of development plans and programs. It is my belief that Bosnia and Herzegovina should be dedicated to development strategies. We have turned it into a country that deals with the strategy of fighting poverty. At the Faculty of Economics, we also say that culture is the most profitable investment. Culture is essentially, like water, the best investment of Bosnia and Herzegovina – said Spahić.
Professor from the Faculty of Economics Amila Akagić, who moderates the panel discussion “How AI transforms art?” she said that artificial intelligence cannot understand emotion in the same way as a human.
– That is the advantage of people compared to artificial intelligence. Art remains in the realm of human experience. Artificial intelligence through the algorithms we invented can imitate emotion, very well. But that experience of feelings and even vulnerability remains human, at least for now. I don’t know what will happen, some physical form of artificial intelligence is not here yet. We don’t know if it will be developed over time, but this software part has advanced very well.
The panel discussion discussed whether we sufficiently understand the artificial intelligence that is all around us. Do we really understand its impact on our society and on the future we are shaping? The panel was particularly focused on art, as it remains one of the most honest mirrors of social change. Art reveals not only what technology enables, but also what it means to us as humans. The aim of the panel was to open a space for thoughtful and open exchange, bringing together the perspectives of academics, ethicists and artists. The discussion is based on three key dimensions: technology, ethical responsibility and the future of human expression.
