Russia and China will take common maritime exercises in the Japanese Sea by 5. August.
Exercises are “by their nature defensive and are not focused against other states,” the Russian Pacific Fleot said, interfax reports.
Exercise called “Joint Sea – 2025” is part of regular bilateral cooperation, the Spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Defense Zhang Xiaogang, transferred the France Presse Agency. Exercise will be held in the sea bordering north and southern Korea, Russia and Japan.
– After the exercises, the two countries will also hold marine patrols in the “relevant waters of the Pacific Ocean – Zhang added.
Last year’s workout “Joint Sea – 2024” was held along the southern coast of China. This year’s exercise will be held just before the planned visit of the Russian President Vladimir Putin China at the end of August.
During the visit, Putin will participate in the Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, as well as marking 80. The anniversary of the end of the Second World War, which includes a military parade.
