His right-wing populist movement ANO signed a coalition agreement with the Motorist Party and the Party of Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD) in Prague on Monday.
– We will have a lot of work to do, but we are ready – said Babiš.
In their coalition agreement, the partners promise to pursue national interests, including a call for a “different Europe”.
President Petr Pavel must now take the next step, because in the Czech Republic the president appoints the prime minister, who must then receive the confidence of the parliament.
It is still unclear when these steps will be taken, but it may not be before December.
ANO, Motoristi and SPD together hold 108 out of 200 seats in the House of Representatives, which was due to hold its first session of the new legislative term on Monday.
The likely coalition partners called for “zero tolerance towards illegal migration”. They promise lower energy prices, the abolition of broadcasting fees and the reintroduction of retirement at 65.
