It is the epilogue of the second semi-final of the Super Cup, in which Real Madrid defeated the city rival, Atletico, with a score of 2:1.
Ahead of us is a new El Clasico, at the same time a sort of replay of last year’s final played in Saudi Arabia, when Barcelona outclassed Real with a convincing 5:2.
This time, the Royal Club will have an additional problem, as it will be weakened in the final by not playing Kylian Mbappe, the team’s strongest offensive link.
Real opened the match violently and took the lead right from the start. After a foul was awarded about 30 meters from the goal, Valverde took a free kick and gave his team the lead with a precise shot at the forks.
The Kings continued with a slightly better game, and Rodrygo had a great opportunity, who in the counterattack made a nice move to knock out the keeper, but Oblak intervened brilliantly.
In the continuation of the same action, Vinicius also found himself in a good position, but he headed over the goal.
Atletico had the first serious chance in the 32nd minute through Baena, but Courtois was safe.
Only a minute later, after a corner, Sorloth was the highest in the jump, but the Belgian goalkeeper once again excelled.
The Norwegian had another great opportunity in the 35th minute, but he headed the whole goal over from a few meters away.
At the break, Atletico tried to equalize, but Real kept a minimal lead.
The beginning of the second part brought a more offensive approach of Simeone’s team, but without a concrete ending.
In the 55th minute, Real punished such an approach – Valverde provided a great assist to Rodrygo, who skilfully freed himself from two guards and routinely scored for 2:0.
Atletico, however, quickly got back into the match. Just three minutes later, after a cross from the side, Sorloth shook the net with his head and reduced the score to 2:1.
In the continuation of the match, Atletico took the initiative, while Real retreated and threatened on the counterattack through Vinicius and Rodrygo.
It was Rodrygo in the 79th minute who could solve the question of the winner, but Oblak emerged as the winner once again.
The last ten minutes brought a real siege on Real’s goal. In the 82nd minute, Hancko broke through the sideline and set up Griezmann, who shot an attractive scissors kick, but Courtois was once again unstoppable.
Just two minutes later, Llorente shot from ten meters, but the ball went just wide of the post. Another attempt by the same player followed in the 86th minute, but even then it was not accurate.
In deep stoppage time, Atletico missed another great opportunity – Alvarez shot, but the ball narrowly missed the goal.
The result did not change until the end, so Real qualified for the finals, where a big clash with Barcelona awaits.
